This activity takes the typical “getting to know you” icebreakers and encourages students to think more critically of who they are. “I am from” does not simply mean the place you live. It encompasses anything and everything that makes up who you are. Students will end up creating a short presentation/ video/poem/collage that tells us so much more than just “I like, I don’t like etc”. This will do wonders for your classroom community.
This activity is a great way to start the school year and fosters communication, respect, listening and empathy. An icebreaking activity that students will truly enjoy.
